Miriam lives in her own little world. She is deaf, and in the early 1980s in Nicaragua, there are not many opportunities for deaf children. Miriam uses some simple gestures with her family to meet her basic needs, but her family wishes she could learn Spanish. Her family wonders if she will ever really be able to communicate with them. When she gets an invitation to a special new school that promises to teach her Spanish, not all goes as planned...

Pintando con las manos is a fully illustrated graphic novella written for intermediate learners of Spanish. Glossary is included.

Such an Incredible Story- It inspired my daughter to present it as her favorite book at school

This book presents such an amazing story. My daughter is in 5th grade and she attends a public school in Argentina. She will be presenting this book as her favorite one for other students to read in her class. She loves the illustrations that make reading more fun. She read the book 6 times! Her favorite part is when the kids teach Miss Morena sign language. Her favorite character is Miriam and she also loves that after reading the book she learned sign language and the importance of communication.
I highly recommend reading the book and inspiring students to learn life skills while they acquire the language in such a fun way.
